Psi Chi UGA will hold its Annual Convention of the Behavioral Sciences on April 4, 2014 on UGA Campus in Athens, GA. The convention will feature posters and research talks by undergraduate and graduate students in psychology and related disciplines. A keynote address will be presented by Dr. Ruth Kanfer of the Department of Psychology at the Georgia Institute of Technology. The convention will be held on Friday, April 4, 2014, in the Grand Hall of the Tate Student Center on UGA Campus (Athens, GA). The convention will begin at approximately 8:30am and will close at approximately 5:00pm. Click here for location information for the Tate Student Center.

About Our Keynote Speaker
This year's Keynote Address will be presented by Dr. Ruth Kanfer, Professor of Psychology at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Dr. Kanfer earned her Ph.D. in Psychology from Arizona State University. Her research interests in psychology are varied, but much of her work focuses on the influence of personality, motivation, and emotion in workplace behaviors and employee well-being. Dr. Kanfer has been an editorial board member for journals such as The Journal of Applied Psychology, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, and Journal of Management. Finally, she has had a productive career of mentoring graduate and undergraduate students in psychology. We are honored to have Dr. Kanfer join us for the convention and look forward to her lecture. Abstract Submission Information
Undergraduate and graduate students who would like to present their research at the Psi Chi Convention should submit an APA-formatted abstract using the online submission portal. Submissions are welcome from students at UGA and other colleges and universities in the Southeast. The topic of research to be presented is open, but should be related to some area of psychology. Each presenter may only submit one abstract as the lead author/presenter, although students may be listed as co-presenters on multiple abstracts.
Abstract Deadline: The deadline for submitting abstracts is March 7, 2014. Please submit your abstact online here.
Presentation Formats: Poster Session or Paper Session/Talk
Abstract Format: Each submission should contain a descriptive title (15 words maximum; please use Uppercase and Lowercase, NOT ALL CAPITALS) and an abstract (200 words maximum) that describes the research conducted, including background, methods, results, and conclusions (if applicable). Sub-headings for the sections of your abstract are not necessary, but can be included if you prefer. If your abstract exceeds 200 words, it will be returned for you to revise. Consult the APA Style Manual (6th Edition) for additional suggestions for writing your abstract.
Online registration for the Psi Chi Convention will be open soon, so please check back. Early registration is $10 and can be paid with cash or a check made out to UGA Psi Chi. Early registration closes at 5:00pm on Monday March 31st. Late registration on the day of the conference will be $12. Registration grants access to all convention events and also covers breakfast and a box lunch during the convention.
If you are from UGA, you can drop off your payment in the designated box in the Psychology Building main office. When you do so, please put the payment in an envelope with your name on it so that we can identify your payment as yours.
If you are from outside UGA, please register online and bring your payment with you to the convention. Your registration fee will be based on the date you registered online.
